Patient care at ACTA
|
|
With regard to patient care, ACTA aims to provide both basic care and top-end clinical and consultant dental care to the fullest possible degree. ACTA provides a full dentist function for patients. In the clinic, patients are treated by students under the supervision and on the responsibility of experienced dentistry teachers. The treatment is comparable with that in every other dental practice, with the difference that the extra attention requires more time of the patient. On the other hand the charges are generally lower and a high level of care is guaranteed. Moreover, the students work in an environment with the very latest resources and optimum hygiene. A further advantage is that ACTA has all the specialist expertise needed for specific dental treatment methods. Accordingly, ACTA is an excellent choice for anyone who requires a second opinion. In principle anyone can register as a patient at ACTA. In certain cases patients may not be eligible for treatment within the educational framework, however, they will have the option of being referred to a specialized department. Patients can also be referred directly, by their own dentist. After registration, each new patient receives an initial examination and a treatment plan is drawn up with information on the possibilities and costs associated with treatment. If the patient is insured for dental treatment then the costs are fully or partially refunded by the health insurer. Besides the main centre in Amsterdam ACTA also has branches in The Hague and in Almere; patients are treated in these centres too. Maxillofacial surgery and dental treatment is carried out at ACTA departments in the Academic Medical Centre, Amsterdam (AMC) and the VU Hospital. |
