The Research Institute ACTA is the only institute for research of the Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA). ACTA comprises the combined Faculties of Dentistry of the Universiteit van Amsterdam and the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. Moreover it comprises by far the largest part of the Netherlands Institute of Dental Sciences (Interuniversitaire Onderzoekschool Tandheel-kunde, IOT). The most recent national research assessment by discipline was in 1998 when the research performed at ACTA received a generally favourable rating with scores at the subdiscipline level even at grade 5 (maximum). The IOT as a research school was re-evaluated in the year 2000 and was given the mark of ‘Hererkenning’ (Re-recognition) from the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences (KNAW) for a five-year period starting January 1, 2001. |
