ACTA has moved!

ACTA has moved. The Faculty of Dentistry of VU University Amsterdam and the University of Amsterdam is no longer at Louwesweg 1. On 17 August 2010, it took up residence at Gustav Mahlerlaan 3004.

ACTA's new building is situated on the Zuidas (Amsterdam’s business district), which means that it is easily accessible by public transport. This goes for patients working in Zuidas and elsewhere, as well as for students and staff.

The new building’s main entrance opens onto the Gustav Mahlerlaan, a street off the De Boelelaan. The reception desk, for patients and visitors, is situated right inside the building’s main entrance. Patients then proceed to the upper floors via the central waiting room and an escalator in the lobby. From here, patients can easily access the reception desks and small waiting rooms of the individual clinics on each floor. Lifts are available for disabled patients.

The old ACTA building at Louwesweg 1 in Amsterdam dates from around 1968. By the mid-1990s there was increasing evidence of structural deterioration.

Following an independent review, the Executive Boards of the University of Amsterdam and VU University Amsterdam decided that a new building should be constructed for ACTA, beside VU University Medical Center.

This location facilitates effective cooperation with other faculties, especially VU University Medical Center.

In addition to ACTA, the new building houses InHolland University’s Oral Hygiene programme and the Foundation for Special Dentistry (SBT).
