More information on oral kinesiology

Student profile
The programme is aimed at postgraduate students:

  • who have a dental degree from a dental school accredited by the European Union;
  • who preferably have had at least two years’ experience in general dental practice;
  • who are registered in the Dutch Health Care Professionals (BIG) Register prior to commencing the programme.

Proficiency in written and oral English is mandatory. Foreign students are expected to obtain a good written and oral command of the Dutch language within the first six months of their training.

Application
Applicants can send their application letter, curriculum vitae, a marked copy of their diploma of the dental school, and two letters of recommendation from university staff members to the address below. The application deadline is the fifteenth of January.

Programme duration
The program has a duration of three years, consisting of three days’ attendance and two days’ self-study per week. 

Tuition
The cost of this programme is €10,000 per year.

Diploma
After passing the final exams and after submission to a peer-reviewed journal of an article (approved by the senior scientists of the section) about the research that was performed as part of the programme, the candidate will be awarded the Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Oral Kinesiology by the University of Amsterdam. In addition, the candidate can apply for a Clinical Specialty Certificate in TMD/Orofacial Pain (‘tandarts-gnatholoog’), issued by the ‘Nederlandse Vereniging voor Gnathologie en Prothetische Tandheelkunde’ (NVGPT).
