Graduation Profile in Oral Implantology

The aim of this profile is to train postgraduate students in oral implantology at  a specialist level. In the departments’ opinion any implant treatment must be based on the prosthetic goal that hse be defined for the patient. The principles of Top Down Planning or also known as Backward Treatment Planning will therefore govern this course. The postgraduate students who complete this course will be able to function as top treatment providers and as such have the knowledge and ability to treat the widest variety of patients in this field. General and specialized dentists can trust fully on the competence of the Oral Implantology and Implant Prosthodontics specialist dentist when referring patients. Diagnostics, treatment indication and treatment planning as well as the surgical and restorative aspects receive a lot of attention. The treatment of complications (peri-implantitis as well as prosthetic complications) is part of the training.
Backgrounds as well as scientific aspects of Oral Implantology and the principles of evidence based dentistry will be systematically addressed in the theoretical part of the training. The trainees will also be expected to perform a research project. The thus trained Tandarts-Implantoloog will have the knowledge and ability to diagnose and treat a wide variety of patients with implant and prosthodontic related problems to a high standard.

Please note: for this profile at least two years of prior experience in dental practice is required.
