Graduation Profile in Endodontology
The aim of this profile is to train dentists in endodontology at a specialist level. The programme, a highly integrated selection of courses, emphasizes the development of a strong basic scientific background coupled with advanced diagnostic and clinical skills.
In addition to seminars and tutorials, a considerable amount of time is devoted to treatment of patients referred by general practitioners. This clinical part involves extensive training in diagnosis and treatment of endodontic diseases, pain and trauma, surgical endodontics, and special-care patient’s groups. Research training within the field of endodontology is also part of the programme. The results of the research project should be presented in the form of a written report which is suitable for publication in an international peer-reviewed journal. This approach is intended to prepare motivated individuals for a career in a multitude of areas, including clinical practice, teaching and research. Guest lecturers from all over the world visit frequently to share their ideas with the post graduate students. 

Organising department and faculty 
The department of Endodontology in ACTA has been offering a post-graduate endodontic programme since 1992. It is one of very few English-speaking post graduate programmes in Europe outside of the UK. The profile and course director is Dr Hagay Shemesh who is supported by 8 endodontic specialists working part-time at ACTA.

Diploma
After passing the final exams, the candidate will be awarded a Clinical Specialty Certificate in Endodontology recognized by the Dutch Association of Endodontology. A joint Master’s degree in Oral Health Sciences will be awarded by both the University of Amsterdam and the VU University Amsterdam.

Tuition fee 

The tuition fee of the programme in this profile is €15.000 per year.
